Our Story...
Vista Verde Lodge came into existence in the early ’90s. Concerned about worldwide environmental destruction and climate change, we had a vision and decided to buy a part of the cloud forest and protect it for future generations. We have 96 hectares of land here but use only 1 hectare for the hotel and lodge.
We grant access to scientists and researchers so that they can study the land and complex ecosystems of the cloud forest. This is a completely non-profit aspect of our enterprise which we are very happy to contribute to for the greater good.
Our vision was also to make Vista Verde Lodge carbon neutral. 100% of the electricity is derived from the hydroelectric generator powered by the waterfall. Likewise, our water is sourced from a natural spring located on the property.
When the lodge was founded in the early ’90s, there was no road access, and so we also had to build the final 2 km to the location. We were always an authentic off-grid enterprise!
We are always on hand to give our guests the best possible experience at the hotel in the cloud forest. Ran by a native Costa Rican family from the Monteverde region gives our guests a taste of authentic Costa Rican hospitality. Share a love for the cloud forest, passion for conservation, and nature at its very best.
